Dear Disciple of Faith:
As a child of God and a disciple of Faith you
are very important to us. We care about your relationship with God
and Faith Lutheran Church and how we can help to improve that
relationship. During the past year or so the Vision Team and
Mission and Ministry Council have been working hard to define what
discipleship really means and how we can help all members of Faith
become better disciples.
The definition of discipleship may seem
obvious and largely personal. For example, we all know that we
should read the Bible, pray daily, and attend
worship services with our families weekly
to nurture our faith and further develop a personal relationship
with Jesus. Receiving Holy Communion and attending Bible Study help
to feed our relationship with Christ.
Discipleship, however, goes beyond the passive
receiving of God’s work and sacrament. It suggests that we
serve at and beyond Faith, be in
relationship to encourage spiritual growth in others,
and give of our time, abilities and
resources.
The Time and Talent Promise
is designed to help us help you in your service and giving of
time and abilities. There are three general areas of emphasis,
specific opportunities for service, skills and training you have
that might be included in a talent pool and called on in whatever
capacity as needed, and areas in which you have an interest but
would like more training.
A copy of this survey is on this website.
. We would like everyone in your household who is a
communicant member to complete a survey by checking all appropriate
items and returning it to the church office by mail or by dropping
it in the collection box in the narthex of the church. Because many
of us are procrastinators and are inclined to set this aside for
thought and consideration, we urge you to give it thought but put it
on the top of your “to do” list and return it to the church
office no later than August 27. God deserves no less.
Thank you for your past service and for your
willingness to serve God’s church and His people in the future.
God’s blessings be with all of you.
